Serving others in the body of Christ and in their communities is a primary focus of the members of the SOCKS Sunday school class.

Since many of our members are serving throughout the church and are not able to attend class regularly, we try to schedule several fellowship times during the year.  SOCKS is blessed by the fun loving spirit of our teacher, Marty Weaver, who consistently presents the Word of God as fact and as the handbook for our lives, and by his wife, Renda, whose caring spirit ministers to the needs of the class.  SOCKS is also blessed by a cross section of people in varying stages of life:  several are single adults, some have school age children and others are empty nesters or have adult children living at home.  No matter what your stage in life, if you desire the truth of God’s Word and want to be part of a class that encourages and serves others, SOCKS may be the class for you!

Our class has adopted several older members of our church.  We send them cards for various holidays and birthdays and include them in class socials when possible.  We have also recently adopted a missionary and she shared with us at a recent class social.  We are currently considering ways we can better encourage and support children of our members that are in the military and in college.

Member quotes on why they enjoy meeting together.

- "We love and support each other, we have a teacher that is a student of the Bible and we fellowship with each other often."  Troy & Roma

- “SOCKS is support, encouragement and love.  Being a part of SOCKS is seeing and feeling how Christ loves.  We're not "just" a Sunday school class, we're friends ... more than that, we are brothers and sisters in Christ.”  Peg

- "I enjoy the sharing when we are studying the Word of God.  The fellowship is great in our class.  I feel like we are family."  Renda

- "Our Sunday school class is a place to share with other believers in Christ not only teaching of His Word from Marty and others who teach, but seeing it in practice as we support,  serve, uplift, take care of and love each other and our FSBC family."  Tricia

- "This class is so loving and supporting; I feel like I fit in here."  Glenna

What we do for fun:

- Pot luck dinners 4-6 times a year; sometimes we have a BBQ.  Usually we just visit and share a devotional.
