Greg Savage - Senior Pastor

staff 1

Greg came to First Southern Baptist in October 2014. He has ministered in churches in Kanas for 25 years. He was in Dodge City for eleven years before coming to Salina. He is a Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary graduate in Kansas City, MO. He did his undergraduate work at The University of Northern Colorado.

Greg married Heidi in October 1990. They have enjoyed married life and feel incredibly blessed by God. Greg and Heidi have three grown children and three wonderful grandchildren. Their oldest son, Brennan, lives in Topeka with his wife, Kaitlyn, and their two daughters, Kennady and Blair. Austin, their middle son, lives in Denton, Texas, with his wife, Kellyn. Hannah, their daughter, lives in Davenport, Iowa, with her husband, Regent, and their son, Silas. All three of their children are graduates of Kansas State University. As you can imagine, Greg and Heidi’s allegiance is firmly planted at KSU.

Greg is an avid reader and enjoys collecting books and reading them. It’s difficult for him to pass up any thrift store. He enjoys watching Hallmark movies and is known to watch a Christmas movie or two during the hot summer months. He enjoys golf but considers himself a horrible golfer. Greg also is a lifelong learner. In February of 2022, he began to study for his Doctor of Ministry degree at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He plans on completing his degree in December of 2024.

Greg and Heidi are enjoying the empty nest years. They do miss their children; you can often find them traveling to spend time with the kids and grandchildren. They have no greater joy than seeing the entire family together. They love to go to the Colorado Mountains, long walks together, golf a quick nine holes, and protect their time in front of the chiminea.

Greg dramatically desires to see the Gospel penetrate every home in Salina. He loves preaching and teaching God’s inerrant Word. You can find him most mornings teaching a devotion on Facebook. He knows the only hope we have can be found in Jesus Christ. He continually encourages the church to focus outwardly, looking for the gospel to invade hearts.

If you have questions, please get in touch with Greg. He would love to take you to coffee or lunch. You can follow Greg at:
